63 National Merit Semifinalists Commended for Academic Achievement
Intensely concentrated, seniors Ari June, Christine Kim, and Sahana Suryanarayan collectively paint a portrait of Charli XCX's face. While painting, they shared stories about past experiences and bonded over similar interests in music. "I've definitely grown as a collaborator because in NAHS [National Art Honor Society], you're all growing together as artists and collaborators," Suryanarayan said. "The portrait helped me make room for others while painting."

The Texas Senate recently passed House Bill 8, a bill that aims to replace the annual State of Texas Assessments of Academic Readiness (STAAR) test with triannual assessments. This bill also includes the earlier test results, the removal of benchmarks, and adaptive testing. Doubts remain on whether this new bill presents an important reform, or simply repackages the same principles of STAAR.

With her warm personality and passion for science, on-level Biology and Integrated Physics & Chemistry teacher Lisa Flores is dedicated to creating a classroom that sparks love for science. She strives to make complex concepts approachable and engaging, helping her students develop interest in the subject. Outside the classroom, Ms. Flores enjoys watching movies, cooking, reading, and listening to music.
